A visit to the Town Loop trail

1. Starting my adventure

Today, I am going on the Town Loop Trail.
I might walk, ride my bike, push a pram, use a scooter, or use my wheelchair.

2. Where I begin

I will start at the Rutherglen Visitor Information Centre at 57 Main Street, Rutherglen.
There is accessible parking with flat, paved ground.
I can go inside to ask questions or use the bathroom.

3. About the trail

The trail is a loop — that means I will finish where I started.
It is about 4 kilometres long.
It is an easy trail with flat paths and a short hill to reach the Wine Bottle.
I can go as fast or as slow as I like.

Accessible car spots outside Rutherglen Visitor Informatio Centre.

4. What I might see

While I'm on the trail, I might see:

  • The Wine Bottle water tower
  • Art on grain silos
  • Shops, trees, and birds
  • Local wineries

It's okay if I don't want to stop. It's okay if I do!

5. The path and surface

Parts of the trail are sealed footpath or road shoulders.
Some parts are smooth gravel.
The surface might feel bumpy in some spots. That’s okay.
If I need help, I can ask someone I trust.

6. Toilets and water

There is an accessible toilet at the Rutherglen Visitor Information Centre.
Some wineries and cafés also have toilets I can use when they are open.
There are water taps where I can fill up my bottle.
If I need to stop and rest, I can sit on a bench or under a tree.

7. If it gets busy or noisy

I might see other people walking or riding bikes.
If I feel worried or overwhelmed, I can:

  • Take deep breaths
  • Put on my headphones
  • Find a quiet, shady place to sit
  • Ask someone I trust for help

8. Finishing the trail

When I finish the trail, I might feel:

  • Tired
  • Proud
  • Happy
  • Calm
  • I can be proud of myself for trying something new and enjoying nature!

9. More information

If I want to plan ahead, I (or someone helping me) can visit:
