About an hour from anywhere? Well maybe a bit more than an hour in some cases, but Rutherlgen is easily accessed no matter where you are travelling from. Ideally located on the Murray Valley Highway, and just off the Hume Highway, Rutherglen is an ideal base to explore the North East Victoria...from the rivers to the mountains and everything in between.


From Melbourne: Approximately three hours by car from Melbourne. Take the Hume Highway north, and exit at Springhurst for the final 15km stretch into Rutherglen.

From Sydney: Approximately six hours by car from Sydney. Take the Hume Highway south exiting at the Murray Valley Highway overpass (15km south of Albury Wodonga). Follow the Murray Valley Highway for approximately 30km directly into Rutherglen.

From Canberra: Approximately four hours by car from Canberra. Take the Barton Highway north, exiting onto the southbound lanes of the Hume Highway. Remain on the Hume Highway, exiting at the Murray Valley Highway overpass (15km sough of Albury Wodonga) Follow the Murray Valley Highway for approximately 25kms into Rutherglen.


The nearest airport is in Albury with flights daily from Melbourne & Sydney. Please visit the Albury Airport website for arrival and departure information. Taxis and car rental agencies operate from the Albury Airport with Rutherglen just an easy 30 minute drive away.


V-Line operate multiple services from Melbourne daily, with coach transfers to Rutherglen available from Wangaratta. Timetables are subject to change and we encourage you to access the Public Transport Victoria website to plan your journey.
