Here, boy!
Australians increasingly regard their dogs as family members and may be allowing sleeping on the bed or providing special birthday celebrations – some pooches even have their own Instagram accounts!
As such, it's no surprise dog-friendly places to stay, eat and drink are in demand - and Rutherglen is happy to oblige!
When visiting Rutherglen, there's no need to leave your four-legged family member at home. Many restaurants with outdoor eating areas are more than happy for well-behaved pooches to sit with their owners while enjoying a delicious meal, and accommodation options are plentiful.
There are three off-leash areas around Rutherglen:
- Barkly Park: 47 Reid Street, Rutherglen (excluding some weekends when sport is being played)
- Willows Reserve: off Reserve Road, Wahgunyah
- Field and Game reserve: Corner Jones Road & Racecourse Road, Rutherglen
