Passionate about locally grown food, in particular Meat, Rutherglen Meat Co aim to bring healthy, sustainable and ethically raised meat to their customers. By sourcing direct from local farmers they can achieve their aim of low food miles, this benefits the welfare of the animal, environment and of course quality of the meat.
Rutherglen Meat Co hopes to reconnect their customers with their food and the art of butchery through running regular workshops and demonstrations. Targeting small groups of passion foodies each demonstration will commence with an overview of the provenance of the meat. They then move into a detailed overview of the animal anatomy, muscle usage and impact of muscle use on flavour and cooking methods.
Rutherglen Meat Co’s hands on workshops are designed to allow visitors to develop the skills and knowledge to perform basic butchery skills at home. Be it boning out a lamb leg to linking their own homemade sausages Mark provides the knowledge and confidence to try this at home or at the very least you will leave with a greater appreciation of the art of butchery.
